When Hilary was missing, a blackmail letter was delivered to her husband Devon requiring a ransom for her.  Devon prepared a big amount of money but it was stolen by someone and Devon was unable to get Hilary back.  Then, somehow a bag with the ransom money was found in Cane's closet.  Of course, he insists on his innocence but no one will believe him.
