When Avery and Joe were together at a party, he pressed Avery to make up with him again.  While they were arguing with each other, Avery pushed Joe and he accidentally fell to the ground from an outside balcony.  His life was saved miraculously but he was paralyzed from his waist down.  Avery feels very guilty about what happened to Joe and helps his rehabilitation training in a hospital while her boyfriend, Dylan, helps Sharon's adverse circumstances.
