This website provides drills to improve your English listening ability using an American soap opera, The Young & the Restless.

After the temporary termination of soap opera production due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Young & the Restless decided to resume filming new episodes, which started being back on the air again on August 10, 2020, finally. Of course, everyone is required to follow the safety standards and maintain the social distance, so the show may look different from what it used to be.

新型コロナウイルスの影響でしばらく新しいエピソードの放送は中断していましたが、８月１０日、ついに再開しました。ただし、他の業界と同じように様々な感染防止策が講じられているようですね。

To make a long story short, this is a story about a love triangle between Devon, Neil and Hilary.  Devon was a homeless teenager and taken in as a foster child by Neil.  Hilary's mother died many years ago and she blamed Neil for her mother's death.  Hilary was determined to ruin Neil's family, but she ended up developing a relationship with both Neil and Devon.  Thanks to Neil, she got a job at Jabot.  After Neil went on a business trip with Hilary, he began an affair with her and convinced her to move in in spite of protests from both his son Devon and daughter, Lily.

デバンとニールとヒラリーの三角関係のおはなしです。デバンは１０代のころはホームレスで、ニールに養子として引き取られます。ヒラリーはずいぶん前に母親を亡くしたのですが、そのことでニールを責めて、ニール一家をめちゃめちゃにしてやりたいと思っています。そんなヒラリーですが、結局はこのふたりと関係（もちろん男女の）を持ってしまうのでした。ニールのおかげでジャボー社に就職したヒラリーは、ニールと一緒に出張に行って以来一線を越えてしまい、ニールは自分のところに来るようにとヒラリーを口説くのです。デバンとリリー（ニールの娘）が反対するにもかかわらず。

Conversations in this series focus on those between a parent and a child.  Needless to say, conversations are not necessarily happy.

Chloe is the mother of Delia, who was killed by Adam in a car accident in October 2013.  Due to the loss of her only child, she was mentally sick and, in spite of help from her husband, Kevin, she decided to leave Genoa City to stay in a mental hospital in California.  However, she sometimes returns to the city because she really wants to avenge her daughter's death against Adam.

クローイーは、アダムが起こした自動車事故のせいで死んでしまったディリアのお母さんです。一人娘を失くして精神的に不安定になり、夫のケビンが助けるものの、カリフォルニア州の精神病院に入院する（役を演じる女優さんは番組を離れる）のですが、娘を殺したアダムへの復讐心は止まず、たまにジェノア市に戻ってくる（女優さんは一時的？に番組に復帰する）のでした。
